The Corvallis Inquirer is a community-focused news outlet devoted to covering local news in Corvallis, Oregon.

We are a nonpartisan publication. We will, however, take a firm stance that information is valuable to our city and even more valuable to the people in it. Not everyone can afford news nowadays. Just writing that sounds scary.. and sad. So we publish for free. No ads, no paywalls, no subscriptions. AND THERE NEVER WILL BE.

We are a small group of local writers. There is no corporate backing, feeds from other news agencies, or agendas. Not owned by a media conglomerate. Or a political party. We have full-time jobs, families, pets, and hobbies—just like you. We are you. Everyone has a passion, and those passions should never be taken for granted. This is our passion. So we selfishly thank you. Our readers.

“A local newspaper is only as strong as the community that fuels it.”

While we work hard to cover the heartbeat of the city, we cannot be on every street corner or in every neighborhood meeting at once. In that vision lies the solution.

Our vision is to create a publication that is fully community-written—by Corvallis, for Corvallis. Your stories, your tips, your tales, and your experiences. No legitimate publication should be run by a small group of people, or by people in an office across the country aggregating eyeballs for ad revenue. It should be written by the people. And have equal access for everyone.

Whether it’s a tip, a concern, a photo, a life experience, an update on a developing situation, your input should be the lifeblood of our reporting.

We encourage you to report anything of interest, no matter how small it may seem; often, the most impactful stories start with a single observation from a neighbor. By sharing what you see, you help us ensure that our coverage remains authentic, timely, and truly representative of the place we all call home.

It’s not all about “news” stories. There is more to life than current happenings. However, it is about stories. We love a good story or life experience. If you want to write one (having to do with Corvallis, of course), send it to us. We’ll most likely post it. Not only do we want to hear your voice, but we also want to broadcast it as a service to the community. You know our email: editor@corvallisnow.com.
