All OTHER obvious problems aside, accidents on the hill at Maxine and 9th will skyrocket. It has been treacherous (and a giant PITA) during construction. Parking on both sides of Maxine creates a really dangerous situation for drivers, pedestrians, kids, dog walkers, deer/cats/peacocks, etc.
This article is well written. The trend of this type of construction is disgusting and horrifying. Not the Corvallis way of doing things in the past. It's happening in North Albany off of Gibson Hill, too. Who studied traffic impacts, fire department capabilities and so on. Nearly half a million dollars to buy in, and the development is not even half complete. $1945+parking for a little under 600 sf, is an absolute joke. Corvallis and Albany planners, should be ashamed, but they are not.. And the greedy rich developers could not care any less about their impact on society and community. It's all a hoax to pretend to care in the public eye. It is really all about greed, not people. But we all know this. Next year, property taxes will still increase. Imagine that. . .
I remember 35 years ago, living in Seattle, listening to the mayor at the time talk about housing like this. How important it was to create cluster villages (my term). This was the housing of the future. I immediately knew - in my young adult years - that this kind of living was utterly contrary to the needs of the human spirit. We need QUIET. Space. And the last thing this city needs is more over-priced clusters of chaos. And let me guess: they were built during the rain using substandard, cheap particle board that will bring its own set of problems 3-5 years or so down the road.
More unaffordable housing. This future ghetto as well as the place going up next to the post office, and the place going up on 4th and Western are targeted at STUDENTS with rich parents and big student loans.

How does the hub work? We need that in Corvallis!!
How can we bring down the rent?

Contrast this with Hub Village in Albany, tiny homes for $400-500 rent.
I think developers should not be allowed to build housing that they themselves would never even consider living in. Nobody wants this, its just gross.
