Diner Diary: We Found the Best $5 Breakfast in Corvallis (And it’s at a Sports Bar)
Not a paid advertisement. We don't play that game. Eat at your own risk.
Let’s be honest—with the way prices are going lately, we didn’t think a “five-dollar breakfast” existed anymore outside of a cardboard box at a drive-thru. But we recently stumbled upon the breakfast deal at Benchwarmers Bar & Grill, and after trying it today… officially converted.
If you’re looking for a satisfying morning meal that doesn’t clear out your wallet, this is the spot.
The Breakdown: What $5 Actually Gets You
We walked in expecting a tiny side plate, but what I got was a legitimate, balanced breakfast. For $5, you get:
One egg any style (I went scrambled—they were “real” eggs, solid quality, if a bit simple).
A good-sized portion of hashbrowns (These were the star of the show; perfectly greasy and crispy).
One sausage link AND one strip of bacon.
A slice of toast.
Now, if you’re absolutely starving, this might not quite be enough food. They do offer a $10 “Large Breakfast” that doubles everything, but honestly? The math doesn’t quite add up. You’re better off just ordering two of the $5 plates.

The Verdict
The food quality is surprisingly high for a sports bar. I’d say it’s easily comparable to—if not slightly better than—places like Elmer’s or Denny’s. Everything felt fresh, and those hashbrowns really hit the spot.
The best part? You can get a full plate and a drink, leave a tip, and still walk out the door for less than $10 total. It’s so much easier to justify a breakfast outing when it’s barely more expensive than eating at home.
Pro-Tips for Your Visit
Timing is Key: During the week, they don’t open until 11:00 AM, so it’s more of a “brunch” or lunch-break move. On weekends, they open at 8:00 AM.
All Day Service: If you have a craving for eggs and bacon at 3:00 PM, they’ve got you covered—breakfast is served all day.
The Competition: Whispers that The Peacock downtown has a similar $5.50 deal for biscuits, gravy, and hashbrowns. We haven’t tried that one yet, so if any of you have the scoop on the Peacock’s Sunday specials, let us know.
