Student Journalists Took Over Corvallis For A Week
OregonLive's High School Journalism Institute...
Last week, the High School Journalism Institute summer program brought together high school students from across Oregon and southwest Washington to learn reporting, writing, photography, and multimedia storytelling. The eight-day institute, based in Corvallis, produced news stories from around our community.

This year’s session ran July 11–18 and was a collaboration between Oregon State University, Oregonian Media Group, and other Oregon media organizations, including The Lookout Eugene-Springfield, The Register-Guard, and Oregon Public Broadcasting.
Throughout the week, students published stories and multimedia projects while receiving one-on-one mentoring from experienced reporters, editors, and photographers.
The program has operated for nearly three decades and is offered at no cost to participants through community and philanthropic support. It was smart, creative, uncovered, quirky, and just a fun read in general.
