RE: Blue Pool
Well said. People get into deep trouble in the wilderness all the time; thankfully, first responders are willing to risk their own lives to rescue them. The influencers that glorify hazardous areas are in a different category. Blue Pool is super deceiving; it is inviting. The photo with a caption “Katie jumping in from the water’s edge. We do not recommend cliff jumping here.”--wow. And that absolves them when someone mimics this idyllic scene & dies? They do mention the lack of cell service (as in how do you call for help without it), the temperature & that it will “absolutely take your breath away”. Perhaps it would have been better to include a warning about not jumping in because people have died here? And skip the photo. My condolences to Mr. Truong’s family and friends.

RE: Benton County Courthouse
3½ years after the devastating 6.9 Loma Prieta Quake in the Bay Area, Corvallis survived the effects of the 5.6 Scott’s Mills earthquake. If you were here I’m certain you remember the crack in our courthouse. It crushes me to think of losing this beautiful landmark but saving it might crack us economically and still crush some of us.

RE: Birds vs. Benton County
One would think in a community that loves its natural environment there would have been a demand of the designers to make sure to address safety for the avian species. Every building goes through a design phase based on the requirements of the owner/occupant. Clearly the avian species is not important in this case.

At the right time of the day we have birds hitting our living room window, and when that side of the house is in the shade, they have a view through our house to the dinning room window so it looks like a straight shot out to the back yard. Windows and birds are tricky. And that is going to be one hot side of the building in the late afternoon. Such a bad design all the way around.

RE: Sex Offender Registry
I wonder if the Men's Shelter is aware that they are housing two sex offenders? Have they informed the other residents? I stayed there several years ago before getting back on my feet, I think I would have liked to know if any of the people I slept near were sex offenders.
