City Council Refers Four Charter Amendments to May Ballot
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Corvallis City Council has voted to place four proposed amendments to the City Charter on the May 19, 2026 ballot. The updates are intended to bring local governance language into closer alignment with statewide municipal standards. Voters will decide this spring whether to approve the changes.
Public Forums and Surveys Focus on Downtown Future
A “Know Your City” public forum is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on February 26 at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, where community members can discuss “Corvallis Downtown: Past, Present, and Future.” The event, sponsored with the League of Women Voters, aims to gather ideas to guide long-term downtown planning. An accompanying public input survey on potential downtown improvements is open through February 23.
Emergency Preparedness and Community Outreach Events
The Mid-Valley Local Emergency Planning Committee will host a public meeting 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on February 18 at Corvallis Fire Department’s Station #1. Local emergency managers will share information on preparedness and readiness efforts and answer questions.
The City also continues its Government Comment Corner sessions at the public library most Saturdays, offering residents direct access to local leaders for informal conversation.
Library Hosts February Programs for All Ages
Corvallis-Benton County Public Library has announced a full slate of February events, including storytimes, tech help labs, adult craft nights, an AI workshop, family craft events, and a Cucunandy Celtic Band performance on February 28. The library also highlights services like home delivery and digital media access for cardholders.
